CHANGE OF DIRECTION

After 3 years, over 30 exhibitions and a decision on my part that the Taxi needs to change direction - visitors were invited to contribute their views on whether the Tax should stay or go and their ideas on other ways that the Taxi might continue to contribute to the life of the neighbourhood. The exhibition included documentation from previous Taxi Gallery exhibitions and selected audio CDs from the Radio Taxi Project.

These suggestions were registered: (in no particular order)

Neighbourhood Library (or book club) you join by donating a book you've enjoyed and borrow one recommended by someone else

so we can chill out

to come to the Taxi if you have noone to play with

information on local groups - what they offer - how to join ...

a time capsule - memories, pictures, sounds and objects from the Abbey

It would be a real shame to see it go - a community resource - info - swapping - fun - hanging out

make love

somewhere to get some quiet thinking done away from kids ... wife ... husband ...

turn it into an aquarium - a sort of urban village pond

somewhere to shelter from the weather!

a neutral place to have a chat with a friend

a biodome for alien plants

the smallest cinema?

make it a youth shelter

you can chill out with your friend or you can come here to be lonely

plant a tree through the middle - make it into a landmark - a symbol of renewal

use it at Christmas and Halloween

tuck shop - sweets, chocs, drinks

use the windows as a noticeboard for local events

online city access point for people who haven't got internet access at home

it is very good and I would use it to go places

convert the backseat into a hot tub/sauna

make some modifications and use it to scare burglers

a romantic place for a date or even to propose ...

woof! use it as your eccentric pet

have a tv and play station

you can use it for chilling out and

a swap shop - somewhere to put unwanted household objects that someone else might want ... no money .. people just can take things if they want them

you can make sort all about the Taxi to help our Post Office (a petition against closure of Local Post Office was being hosted in the Taxi when this comment was registered)
