| Ride & Tell by Idit Nathan & Anna Townley > 9 March - 4 April 2003 |

| Ride & Tell was created especially for Taxi Gallery following a period of research in which local artists, Idit and Anna, interviewed Taxi Drivers about their conversations with passengers. The Taxi Gallery space was transformed into an intimate and cosy confessional including the smell of incense and the echoing soundscape of a catholic church. Questions were asked and visitors invited to chalk up their secrets and stories anonymously - in the spirit of a confidential exchange during a taxi journey. This work is the second collaboration between Idit and Anna, the previous being an archaeological trail in Arbury, Cambridge, Beneath the Surface - The Exhibition. |

| Idit Nathan's previous work has been in theatre and more recently a series of site specific installations. Work in Cambridge includes Lighted Rooms Inside Your Head an exhibition inspired by conversations with elderly patients at Addenbrooke's Hospital, and is still on show in the corridor leading towards the Rosie Maternity Hospital. www.iditnathan.org.uk Anna Townley has recently completed an MA at Norwich School of Art and Design and her show Shelf Life made in collaboration with Lawrence Bradby is currently on show at Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library. Shelf Life is an interactive intervention which explores the Library's cataloguing system and includes a bookmark trail, adapted books and rubber band propelled butterflies released when a book is opened. comments book extracts: a great experience - i feel like a new woman - I blame my mother for it all! a potentially cathartic experience, mid-life crises well and truly aired ! a truly confessional experience, but more comfortable, thanks for the experience a superb place for a confession - can't more Taxi drivers take part?
