Kirsten Lavers: Ivan Jones has a sister-in-law, Mrs Hayes, who is 101 years old and still lives in Wells, Abbey Field House. I have just spoken to her niece's best friend, Jacky who spotted my labels on the benches. Jacky will be bringing Mrs Hayes to the exhibition. She suspects she will know many of the people recorded by the plaques.

Mrs Phyllis Hayes, Sister-in-Law: Ivan was born in this area, local to Wells. His mother was Head Teacher of the Dinder School, but subsequently went to live with her daughter in the Midlands. Ivan was educated at the Dinder School and the Wells Blue School. He joined the Post Office as an engineer and was very respected for his good service. Ivan was a regular, active member of the Druids.
